LA LAKER VLADI RADMANOVIC SCORES BIG WITH THE CHILDREN OF FIVE ACRES

ALTADENA, CA.  LA Lakers forward Vladi Radmanovic and the Laker Girls scored big with the children of Five Acres on Saturday, January 17, 2009.  The children were treated to an assembly where they had the opportunity to ask questions, win prizes, and even learn passing drills.  After the assembly the children clamored outside to the basketball court where they had the chance to shoot hoops with the Lakers forward.  As a memento of the day, every child received an autographed Lakers picture and enjoyed delicious cupcakes donated by Elizabeth Bakery.  “I enjoy visiting the children at Five Acres because I can identify with many of them.  Growing up in difficult circumstances my sister and I relied on the generosity of strangers who opened their doors for us,” said Radmanovic of his continued relationship with the kids of Five Acres. 

Five Acres is a child and family services agency in Altadena that strengthens families and prevents child-abuse through treatment and education in community-based and residential programs.  Originally founded as an orphanage in 1888, today Five Acres offers an array of services including a residential treatment center, a non-public WASC accredited school, mental health services, foster care, adoption services and domestic violence prevention.
